The Vatican Museum’s history starts as a collection of sculptures
exhibited to the public by Pope Julius II (1503-1513). Over
the centuries successive Popes have added works of art, new wings
and halls, and valuable artifacts to this immense conclave, so
it now boasts on of the most comprehensive collections in the world
including pieces right up to the modern day. The entrance
to this fantastic cornucopia of works lies one hundred yards from
our doorstep, there is no more convenient Hotel to access this
fascinating treasure.
